Here are some highlights from our 2013 Tree Planting field trip last Friday. The Josephine County Tree Plant is a project working to restore a section of clear cut forest from the 70’s. Josephine County and local students are working hard to bring back this section of forest. Our kids worked hard, got dirty, and had fun!
Dear Parents and Families,
This is just a note regarding recent confusion about the weekly reading logs and missing assignment reports. Students are asked to read for 30 minutes per night. After reading, students are to “log” their reading on the reading log. Parents do not need to do anything on this form. Students are responsible for filling out the form on their own. However some students may need encouragement to begin the reading assignment. Reading logs are due on Mondays or the first day of the school week. These are recorded, scored, and included in the Reading grade.
If your student has missing reading logs on the weekly missing assignment report, they may make these up by writing a book review paragraph. Please have them write one book review per missing log. Students may write these on any book that they are reading.
Attached is a missing assignment report for your student. Subjects are labeled and missing assignments are listed for each subject. If your student is not missing an assignment for a subject, it will be marked complete. If your student is missing assignments, please have them look for them and turn them in. If they need extra copies of an assignment, please have them write a letter detailing what assignments they may need copies of. I will get them to them as I can. Please sign this report and return it to school with your student acknowledging that you have seen it.
I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Thank you and have a great weekend!
We have a couple of important dates coming up. This Friday is our walking field trip to Crater, where we will enjoy a performance by the Dancing People Company. Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to 2013! This is always a very exciting time for me as a teacher. From Winter Break to Spring Break is our biggest uninterrupted part of the school year. The growth that our kids make is remarkable. As we begin 2013 it is a good time to freshen up your student’s school supplies. Please check with your student to
see if they need any paper, spiral notebooks, or pencils to get them through the rest of the year. Also, a reminder that Reading Logs are a homework assignment and are collected every Monday. Students are asked to read 30 at night and fill in their log. Students may read anything they want, as long as they do it for 30 minutes and log it.
Our Science Works field trip is tomorrow. Please make sure your student has a sack lunch. Thank you to the parent chaperones joining us on this adventure. We appreciate it!
Check the Science Works post below for a link to the field trip permission slip.
