This week in Room 10

Last week was a fun one in Room 10. Our fourth graders participated in the Mini-marathon. Our own Skye placed 2nd among 4/5 girls in the entire district. Jonny came in as the third place finisher from SVE. Way to go! We are proud of you. We also had a Halloween party in Room 10. Thank you to all of the parents who helped out and provided the goodies. I loved watching the kids try to eat donuts hanging from the ceiling.

This week will also be a busy one. Tuesday is our student recognition assembly and a concert by the Rogue Valley Symphony. Wednesday we will be working with Mrs. Drake’s kindergarten dissecting owl pellets. In Math we are beginning multiplication. I will be sending home flash cards for you to work with your student. Please spend some time with these. Memorizing the multiplication facts now will make Math class easier in the future. Finally, we have our vocabulary test on Friday. If you need a copy of the list click here.

Be sure to check out the list of supplies needed for the caramel apples.
Take care and thank you,
Mr. H.

Fund Raiser

Mrs. Mullings has volunteered to make and package caramel apples to be sold at Rainey’s market. The proceeds from this fund raiser will go towards field trips for Room 10 and Mrs. Schmitt’s class. This is a huge task that Mrs. Mullings has stepped up to do for our kids. We can help her by donating the supplies she needs. If everyone does a little we have the opportunity to make a big difference for our kids. Please look at the list below and let me know what you would like to donate. Thank you,
Charles Hadley

50 – 75 small to medium granny smith apples
6 lbs. butter (no margarine will not do)

10 lbs. light brown sugar
1 gallon light corn syrup
12 cans sweetened condensed milk
1 pint vanilla extract

roasted salted peanuts
mini chocolate chips
white chocolate chips

cellophane treat bags or cellophane wrapping paper (check Dollar Tree)

Room Ten News

Dear Parents and Families,

Wow, can you believe the school year is seven weeks old already? It seems like just yesterday we were enjoying the last weekend of summer vacation. We have been very busy here in Room Ten and we continue to work very hard. I’m very proud of the effort that each and every student is putting into their studies.

Illness- The flu bug is out and reeking havoc on Room Ten. Last week we had four students miss the entire week, and two others who missed half of the week. Two weeks ago we had several days where nine students were absent. I have never seen anything like this. If your child is ill please keep them home to recover. We miss them, but staying healthy is more important.

Website- Our class website (https://charleshadley.district6.org/) is up and running. On it you will find class updates, vocabulary lists, math help links, homework, and other information. Check back often for new updates.

Halloween Party- I’m looking for parents who would like to plan our class Halloween party. The party will be on Friday, October 30th at 1:00. Students may bring their costumes if they would like to. They will be given time to change just before the party. If you would like to help organize this, please send me a note or an e-mail.

Thank you and stay healthy!!!
