Welcome!

Welcome to the room 13 blog! I apologize for not being updated for the 2012-2013 school year.  I’m working on getting things up to date for this years group of incredible 4th and 5th graders.  Throughout the weekend I’ll be adding links to IXL, the new AR test website, and extra math help.  I might also throw out some other cool links.  Visit often during the school year for pictures, updates, and extra-credit opportunities.

Summer!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!  This wonderfully hot weather is forcing my children to the pool.  How about you?  The first week of summer I went on a backpacking trip with Mr. Lewis.  We hiked into a beautiful lake called The Devil’s Punch Bowl.  An absolutely stunning view and challenging hike.  My family and I also went on a camping trip to the coast.  The weather there was some of the best I’d ever seen on the Oregon Coast. Then  we enjoyed the Fourth of July with ice cream sundaes and lots of fireworks.  What have you been doing this summer?  Feel free to post your adventures.

Reading Logs

Dear Parents and Families,

This is just a note regarding recent confusion about the weekly reading logs.  Students are asked to read for 20 minutes per night.  After reading, students are to “log” their reading on the reading log.  Parents do not need to do anything on this form.  Students are responsible for filling out the form on their own.  However some students may need encouragement to begin the reading assignment.  Reading logs are due on Mondays or the first day of the school week.

If your student has missing reading logs on the weekly missing assignment report, they may make these up by writing a book review paragraph.  Please have them write one book review per missing log.  Students may write these on any book that they are reading.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.  Thank you and have a great weekend!

Missing Assignment Reports

Be sure to check your student’s Thursday folder for the new missing assignment report.  On it you will find any missing homework assignments, in class assignments, and weekly A.R. test progress.  Please go over this with your student and help them locate any missing work.

Thank you!
